A resource for understanding conflict, violence, peacefulness and nonviolence.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

“Too often we deal with problems in a one-dimensional way, addressing the effect but not the cause, or addressing the macro level but not the micro.<\/em><\/p>\n

Peace education teaches us to look at problems holistically, and try to see with a wide lens, looking from the past and forward to the future, and looking deep within ourselves, while at the same time understanding the larger impacts. (Knox-Cubbon, 2010, Teachers Without Borders)”<\/em><\/p>\n

The resource\"Multiple<\/a><\/h3>\n

This resource provides a framework to examine issues of social justice, inequity, potential or actual conflict and\/or violence. It can be used to illustrate concepts of conflict and violence and peacefulness and nonviolence and to develop critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n

The resource uses photographs and the analogy of the camera lens to provide students with an analytic lens to view and evaluate particular events and circumstances.<\/p>\n

Photo literacy examples give teachers a practical technique to explore perspectives surrounding a range of social, cultural and environmental issues impacting on individuals, families, communities and societies.<\/p>\n

The resource includes links to image galleries and where possible access to photographs that are freely available for download or printing for use in the classroom.<\/p>\n
